Scottish fiddle player and contemporary folk artist Sean Graefe-Morrison (he/him) brings a seldom-seen rawness and intimacy to live fiddle performances. Described as a “fluent and fearless” player, Sean prioritises authenticity, commitment and honesty of sound in all he does musically.
He is effortlessly at home in the violin’s wide and various soundworlds, from rich classical training in the UK’s conservatoires and forming prizewinning chamber ensembles to touring the abundant UK folk scene and creating critically acclaimed albums. Genres blend and sounds flow when Sean performs.
Instead of keeping these influences to their respective corners, Sean allows them to flow freely into his folk music practice, while still maintaining a strong respect for the dignified past that this genre is built on.
From quiet and introspective airs to tunes and melodies that will provoke inner movement and vibration, there are many avenues to be explored and things to be felt.
Sean performs with Thorpe & Morrison, a modern Anglo-Scottish folk duo with main stage performances at many acclaimed UK folk festivals under their belt. Including Moseley Folk Festival, Warwick Folk Festival, Between The Trees, Gate to Southwell, Beardy Folk Festival and many more. He also performs with “orchestral-folk” supergroup Filkin’s Ensemble.
