Clementine Lovell is a singer and accordion player with roots in both English and Irish folk, whose influences include folk rock/revival, classical, electronic and experimental music. She takes traditional songs and reworks them, as well as writing her own songs, engaging the audience with stories of ordinary people, and the struggles, joys and emotions that connect us and make us human. Clementine has a distinctive lyrical voice which can produce clear, soaring, eerie, and shimmering vocal lines, contrasting against the dark bassy accordion drones and weaving in amongst the piano accordion treble harmonies. She has collaborated with composer/pianist James Keay (co-writer of Sam Lee’s album Old Wow), violinist Tom Leary (Feast of Fiddles), percussionist Robbie K Jones (Track Dogs/Steve Knightly), cellist/singer Marion Fleetwood (The Sandy Denny Project) and guitarist Vo Fletcher (Ric Sanders/Fairport Convention).
Clementine will be joined by percussionist Carmen Ruiz Vicente and fiddle player Duncan Menzies. Carmen’s background is in American roots music. She plays regularly with blues band Dom Glynn & His Sunday Best, and country artist Savannah Gardner and the Recovering Good Girls. Duncan Menzies performs with a variety of musical groups, including the renowned bluegrass trio Copper Viper, and Quebec inspired folk band Club Debris.
