Ceitidh Mac (pronounced “Katie”, spelled the Gaelic way – think ceilidh with a T) is a Welsh-born,
Tyneside-based alternative cellist/singer whose sound is original, absorbing & full of soul.
Folk in her subtle observations of people & politics, jazz in her attention to groove & not sticking to the
rules of songwriting. Ceitidh Mac makes cello/singing feel like its own genre.

Think Arthur Russell who paved the way for cello/singing, Aldous Harding in the beauty of leaving the
listener space to find their own meaning in the songs, think Joni Mitchell, alt.folk heroes This is the Kit,
jazz political commentator Alabaster dePlume. People who carve their own sound world.
Growing up in rural Pembrokeshire before moving to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Ceitidh has worked with Sam
Grant (Richard Dawson, Pigsx7) on all her recordings to date. They have built an exciting foundation to
continue with a debut record.

2026 has seen Ceitidh Mac showcase at Focus Wales & Manchester Folk Festival. She’s previously
supported the likes of Lankum, Alabaster dePlume, Laura Misch & Rachael Dadd, with festival
appearances including Green Man, Shambala, Kendal Calling & Other Voices. She has spent time as
Artist in Residence at The Glasshouse & won the Drake YolanDa Award in 2022.

Her work has received support from BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Wales &
Amazing Radio (A-list + chart placement), alongside press from Fresh on the Net, NARC., Velvet
Sheep, and more.

A distinctive voice in the contemporary scene, Ceitidh Mac’s sound is rooted, resonant & rapidly rising.
