The Twisted Twenty and The Norfolk Broads
The Slaughtered Lamb, Clerkenwell
Thursday 22nd February 2018
Doors 7:30pm, Live Music 8:15pm

Throughout 2018 we will be presenting showcase concerts featuring the best of the local folk scene, join us for the first of these concerts featuring two outstanding London based acts The Norfolk Broads and The Twisted Twenty.

The Norfolk Broads are a four-piece female ensemble who enjoy singing low-pitched folk songs about love, despair and dastardly boyfriends.

The Broads supply their repertoire of traditional stories with a very contemporary verve and energy, using old songs to fuel new takes on the lives of women both past and present.

“Young female quartet the Norfolk Broads are strong storytellers…Their close harmonies brought a witty feminist take to a well-curated set of tales of impotence, greedy landlords, and the joys of a single life.” ~ The Guardian

“The Twisted Twenty experience is a really special one, seriously recommended.” — Bright Young Folk

Musically mixing and twisting the origins of nearly forgotten melodies, The Twisted Twenty take 18th century musics from the British Isles and playing on original Baroque instruments, forge a new sound for the 21st century.

The Twisted Twenty pull together the talents of Holly Harman, Alexis Bennett, David Rabinovici, Flora Curzon, Jim O’Toole, Lucia Capellaro, Ewan Macdonald and Carina Cosgrave – some of the most exciting classical and folk musicians around today.
