That is about to change.....
Wishing to create an opportunity to explore more fully the areas of Music that interest him, Peter created his own trio ‘Gigspanner’ where he is joined by Guitarist Roger Flack and Afro-Percussionist Vincent Salzfaas, who are in the words of festival organiser Geoff Boudreau “both powerful and intelligent musicians in their own right”.'

His gently-rocking, melodic, country-tinged songs are never 'in your face' but seem to plant themselves in the mind. Reg has created his own form of 'Britannicana', finding inspiration in fragments of history and real lives as well as the usual subjects of love and loss. Live and on CD he keeps the finest company, with the likes of Who keyboardist RABBITT BUNDRICK, MIRANDA SYKES, PHIL BEER. Etran Finatwa at The Lift Global Music Club, Glossop, Derbyshire
"Etran Finatawa was formed as a band at the time of the 2004 Festival in the Desert near Timbuctou. The literal meaning of their name is ‘the stars of tradition’. They are the first group to use the songs and music of the Wodaabe in a modern context. They began as a group of ten musicians who wanted to unite these two nomadic cultures as a symbol of peace and reconciliaton. The touring and recording band consists of six players three of whom are Tuareg and three, Wodaabe-Fulani. In Niger the Wodaabe and the Tuareg live side by side on the desert’s fringes sharing pastures and water sources which sometimes leads to feuding. They work together to be strong and to give their culture a future in this changing world. The music of the two tribes is very different but the way it has been combined has produced a powerful and hypnotic sound and a new musical style of Nomad Blues."

Pig Earth at The Half Moon, Putney, West London
"Local band, Pig Earth, sound like no other. They deliver their brew of original, melodious, acoustic folk song with an infectious zeal that lifts the spirit. Whether it be the stomping rhythms that at times embrace skiffle or the rolling narrative tales punctuated with classical strings, you will be hooked.
This is 'alternative folk' borrowing from the age-old traditional partnership of melodeon and fiddle, but still very much of this time. Songs of love, travel, roots and home, with the odd steam train thrown in, are told through the harmonised vocals of the songwriters. Piano, guitar, fiddle, melodeon, bass and drums fuse to form a myriad of sound that is unique to the Pig Earth experience."

Bob Davenport at The Green Note, Camden, London
"When word got round that BOB DAVENPORT was recording a new album in 2005, the cream of the current folk scene queued for a chance to participate. Guest appearances on A COMMON STONE included appearances by Richard Thompson, Chumbawamba Acoustic, Martin Carthy, Linda Thompson, Mike and Norma Waterson, John Tams, Coope, Boyes and Simpson and Fi Fraser. The resulting album is raw, real and original.
Renowned on both sides of the Atlantic for his uncompromising, gritty talent, Bob Davenport’s one of the all time great voices of the English folk scene. His recording history goes back over four decades and has produced raw, idiosyncratic nuggets. The Hot Club of Cowtown at The Komedia, Bath, Somerset
"The world’s greatest little Texan swing band the Hot Club of Cowtown has grown to be the most globe-trotting, hard-swinging Western Swing trio on the planet.
Hot Club of Cowtown has grown into an international sensation since their appearance on Later with Jools Holland. Elana James’s vivacious fiddle solos and vocals, Whit Smith’s cunningly understated guitar phrasing and the delicious thump of Jake Erwin’s slap-bass make a formidable package, and the journeys back to Tin Pan Alley’s golden era are handled with a rare sense ofjoie de vivre. They even have the courage to dip into the Aerosmith songbook, on a careworn treatment of Chip Away the Stone that is stripped of metal machismo. Recommended for cowpokes and lovers of Django alike."
Pamela Wyn Shannon at The Ritz Acoustic Club, Burnham-On-Sea, Somerset
It's not often one can use the terms somber and enchanting in tandem when describing music, but Courting Autumn qualifies. Pamela Wyn Shannon's take on fall skips past the bright colors and proceeds directly to winter's icy death grip. But, improbable as it sounds, if dirges were lyrical and light, they'd sound like Shannon's arrangements. Shannon's guitar playing has rightly been compared to that of Bert Jansch and this album evokes the neo-Renaissance explorations of bands such as Pentangle and the John Renbourn Group. There are lots of minor key moments and Shannon delights in enhancing her light soprano ..." - Sing Out!

James Hollingsworth at The Carpenters Arms, 10 Church Road, Wick, Bristol, Gloucestershire
"James Hollingsworth’s main stage set on the Saturday afternoon of the festival ranged from what was grounded in the traditional – a voice buzzing in the ear, the familiar plucked guitar – to what seemed to border on the celestial, as both voice and a much effected, but delicately measured, acoustic guitar swept back and forth across the arena. James’ performance was captivating…truly so, as many followed him to the intimate surroundings of the Bar Stage later in the afternoon, where an equally diverse mixture of songs and styles was in evidence." - Abbey Mill Folk Festival, 2006

"Iain Matthews first came to critical notice in 1967 when he joined the original line-up of 'Fairport Convention' with whom he recorded what was to become the prototype of English 'Folk Rock', 'What we did on our holidays' Departing the band in 1969 to form 'Matthews Southern Comfort' he secured an international 'hit' with Joni Mitchell's 'Woodstock'.
Establishing what was to become a pattern Iain grew restless with the restrictions imposed by a band format and, within a year had departed his own band to embark on a 'solo' career. Two years and two albums later, including the 'classic' 'If you saw through my eyes'. Iain formed 'Plainsong', with ex- 'Liverpool Scene' member Andy Roberts, and enjoyed further critical success with the release of his 'In search of Amelia Earhart' album.
Within a year Matthews was on the move again, this time changing continents to Los Angeles, where he established an artist / producer relationship with ex Monkee, Michael Nesmith, who names Iain as the 'founding father' of 'Country Rock'. It was during Iain's tenure in Los Angeles that he made a career decision that lesser artists can only dream of when he was asked, and declined, to join 'Steely Dan' - nice one Iain!"
Very Cellular Songs: The Music Of The Incredible String Band at The Barbican Centre, London

Their brand of psychedelic folk was an exciting and imaginative departure from tradition, and their musicianship was undisputed. Although the music industry’s attention drifted away from after the turn of the 1970s, the duo carried on making records, alongside some solo projects, until splitting in 1974.

Nancy Wallace & Stephen Cracknell at The Union Chapel, Highbury, London - Midday - Free
Nancy Wallace sings and plays with The Memory Band and more recently, The Owl Service. Her first solo release was the wonderful Young Hearts EP from 2005, a sublime collection of disco classics set to simple folk arrangements that won the hearts of everybody lucky enough to hear it. Following two albums of effortless modern folk classics with The Memory Band, Nancy is now finally ready to unleash her debut solo album. Old Stories has a charming simplicity and astounding beauty, unique interpretations of traditional British songs sit happily alongside Nancy's own compositions with a flow so seamless you forget which is which. Bag of Rats at The King William, High Street, Glastonbury, Somerset
"Spreading disease from the Somerset and Dorset area of the West Country comes a filthy scum slime of rats, in fact the Bag of Rats. The band have toured around the local area (to the dismay of all) gigging at festivals, pubs and folk clubs entertaining the crowds (is five people a crowd?) with their unique take on folk with influences in Traditional English Beer, Nuclear Physics (where's me bloody fusion? - you can't have nuclear physics without fusion), Blues, Irish, Jazz, Country, a smidgen of Ska (Naah), a hint of alternative (Alt what?) and a peppering of salt and psychedelic skiffle."

James Hollingsworth at The Uplands Tavern, 42 Uplands Crescent, Swansea
"James Hollingsworth’s main stage set on the Saturday afternoon of the festival ranged from what was grounded in the traditional – a voice buzzing in the ear, the familiar plucked guitar – to what seemed to border on the celestial, as both voice and a much effected, but delicately measured, acoustic guitar swept back and forth across the arena. James’ performance was captivating…truly so, as many followed him to the intimate surroundings of the Bar Stage later in the afternoon, where an equally diverse mixture of songs and styles was in evidence." - Abbey Mill Folk Festival, 2006

Diana Jones plus Mothers Ruin at The Sage, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear 2:00pm
"Diana Jones draws on her affinity with old-time Appalachia and the Smoky Mountains folk songs that her grandfather sang to produce sparse, haunting melodies, telling poignant stories. She has played support slots for Richard Thompson and Mary Gauthier, and had songs recorded by Joan Baez and Gretchen Peters. She "might be the best American songwriter most people have never heard of", according to The Chicago Tribune. Diana has been earning media plaudits everywhere including BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris, since the release of her 2009 album, 'Better Times Will Come'."
The Flatlanders plus Rodney Crowell at The Sage, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear 7:30pm
"A killer double bill of Texan country/Americana. A rare appearance by the legendary Texan country band. Three of Texas's most respected singer-songwriters - Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely and Butch Hancock - formed The Flatlanders in 1971. After the band split and each went on to successful solo careers, the original collaboration became something of an alt-country legend, and the three occasionally come together again to resurrect the sound. They will be performing material from their new album, 'Hills and Valleys'.
Rodney Crowell's career was launched when he moved from Texas to Nashville and earned a spot with Emmylou Harris's Hot Band. One-time husband of Roseanne Cash, he recorded 'Walk the Line: Revisited' with Johnny Cash. Crowell recently released his latest album, 'Sex and Gasoline', which is the work of a man at the peak of his powers."
Devon Sproule plus Woodpigeon at The Sage, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear 8:00pm
"In her trademark vintage dresses and 50 year old Gibson guitar, Devon Sproule combines Appalachian, folk and jazz influences (with a bit of bossa nova thrown in). The young singer-songwriter produces "beautifully sparse arrangements and melodies that surprise the ear when you first hear them, but which then get under your skin much more than anything more obvious would" (BBC). And Maverick Magazine describes her songs as "gorgeous laid-back Southern-tinged music. Very highly recommended for lovers of good songwriting and seriously sexy (or sexily serious) voices."
Support comes from Canadian collective Woodpigeon, who play "lushly orchestrated folk-pop, featuring wispy boy-girl harmonies" The Guardian."
