Scottish folk musician, Caitlin Gilligan, was born and raised in Dumfries & Galloway. Now based in Liverpool, her songs still echo the wildness of her Scottish youth.
Weaving age-old folk songs into sets of bare-boned and poetically-crafted originals, she demonstrates refreshing insight whilst simultaneously summoning the voices of times gone by. She draws much inspiration from folk giants such as Anne Briggs, Nick Drake and Leonard Cohen as well as traditional vocal music of Scotland, Ireland and America.
Calum Gilligan is a songwriter and guitarist from Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland, now based in the beating heart of British music, Liverpool. Influenced by the likes of Christie Moore, Paul Brady, Paul Simon, Joan Baez and Woody Guthrie, he plays a subtle blend of Scottish, Irish and American folk music with captivating imagery and the lyrical maturity of a much more experienced songwriter.
His guitar playing provides enough intricate melodic accompaniment to his singing that he can easily command a stage and captivate an audience on his own. Calum has been described as a ‘gifted musician, playing the guitar beautifully…’ by Spencer Leigh from the Liverpool Echo, and as ‘… a gifted songwriter with a voice to back it up’ by Folk Radio.
Ethereal vocals, poignant melodies and stirring lyrics describes award winning nu-folk singer/songwriter and musician, Zoë Bestel, hailed as one of Scotland’s most exciting emerging talents. With her first EP, 35 Missed Calls – released in 2012, when she was just 14 – reaching number three in Amazon’s folk chart, two years later her self released debut album, Sir Lucas and the Moon awarded Album of the Week by the Scottish Daily Record
